Geo-SAFER Northern Mindanao/Cotabato grabs 5th ICIDRRM Best Poster Award
A research entry of the Geo-SAFER Northern Mindanao/Cotabato Project captured the best poster award during the recently concluded 5th International Conference on Integrative Disaster Risk Reduction Management (ICIDRRM) held at Eastern Samar State University at Borongan City, Eastern Samar, Philippines last September 4-6, 2018.
The winning poster was entitled “2D Hydraulic Modeling of Urban Flood in Panlibatuhan River, Valencia City, Bukidnon, Philippines” presented by Rose Angelica L. Amper, a staff of the project, which bested other ten (10) posters of researchers representing other SUCs and HEIs in the country.
The poster is an effort geared towards disaster preparedness and prevention through developing a two-dimensional urban flood inundation model in Valencia City for any practical application in the future. Two (2) other research studies from the project were also presented at said the conference.
ICIDRRM is an annual convergence of DRRM officers, researchers, planners, and members of academe working together towards the advancement of Climate Change Mitigation and DRRM advocacies. It is hosted yearly by the ESSU since 2014 following the devastation of Typhoon Haiyan in the region.
